Domestic Adoption: Myths & Realities DVD
This two hour long video is for prospective adoptive parents and potential birth parents, as well as, others who want to gain a clear understanding of the private and agency domestic adoption process. This video gives our audience a solid foundation of information that enables each individual considering adoption to make decisions that meets their own concerns and best suits their personalities, as well as others, to better understand and communicate with adoptive parents, birth parents, and children whom have been adopted.

The first section highlights the prevalent false adoption myths and stereotypes that result in biases and misunderstandings of adoptive parents, birth parents, as well as, the various adoption options. Real life personal experiences are told by adoptive parents and birth parents and reality-based information is provided by adoption professionals to break through the myths and stereotypes. By portraying a realistic vision of how individual birth parents and adoptive parents actually experience the adoption process, you will understand what the adoption process is truly about.

The second section provides a roadmap of the adoption process by adoption attorneys, adoption agency staff, and social workers. These professionals walk you through each step of the process interwoven with related stories from adoptive parents and birth parents. You will see how prospective adoptive parents become legally qualified and why pregnant women decide to become potential birth parents. The professionals serve to guide you through how prospective adoptive parents and potential birth parents: choose between private or agency adoptions; begin correspond with each other to see if they can create relationships; participate in adoption plans with each other that involve trusting relationships that fit somewhere along the open through closed continuum; participate in adoption plans, including adoption placements; and adoption finalization procedures, as well as post-placement topics.
